If youre talking about my post, Mousey, well you might find here and there some things that indeed may sound like Satanism. I do agree with the most part of their philosophy indeed, but I myself am not a Satanist, as I refuse to be part of any kind of religion . I just take the parts that appeal to me, apply them on myself and seek to improve myself this way without blindly following any kind of religion.

    Clear?
Is this the land where sun brightly shines, is this the existence of a heaven's sign?
Is this the locus the hallowed focus, where grace love and harmony combine?

That reminds me of the old Woody Allen joke. You know, the one where someone accuses him of being nacissistic?

"Narcississitic?", muses Woody, "no, actually, the Greek God I most identify with is Dionysus"

OK, so you need to hear Woody tell it.

A Jahovah Witness will refuse a blood transfusion for their child - preferring the child to die.

    Judaism - Circumcision of babies.

Islamic 'Sharia' law - Prisoner being stoned to death. Small stones are used so instant death isn't possible.

These are just a few examples of practises we accept 'Because of their Religion'.

I cannot agree that any of the above practises do any good whatsoever. I wouldn't agree that someone being stoned to death for adultery deserves it. I wouldn't agree that babies should be circumcised for any other reason apart from a medical one. I wouldn't agree that someone should die rather than receive a blood transfusion. It's absolutely ludicrous to sit back and say 'Such and such a religion believes in something which I find morally wrong but it's their religion so I have to accept that'.

My belief is Self Belief. I know myself and believe that I'll make the right decisions in life based on the principles which I hold dear. I don't need to be told by any religion how to live my life. A common sensical approach that religions tend to overlook. We should be encouraging people to believe in themselves rather than in something that has not been proven to exist. We exist - no doubt about that.

Read 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins. It is a fantastic read.

It depends, some believers, Ken Miller for instance, I have the utmost of respect for. Professor of Biology at Brown University, a world expert on cellular genetics and all round nice guy. He knows more than most about the origins of life yet chooses to believe in a creator god. This I can respect.

What I would belittle are people who chose to ignore centuries of scientific research in favour of the god of the bible and the genesis account of creation, simply because "it says so in my book".

I find some "religious humour" to be very disrespectfull; Lars Vilks' stuff for instance, like Christ shown as a paedophile, Muhammad as a dog and so on.

I really do not like that kind of nastiness. Why not treat people with respect and not try to tear them down? I have a Muslim friend and religion is very important to him, one of the last things I would do is try to tear him down.

It's good that people have something that keeps them positive and gives them hope.

In fairness, who are we to say its stupidity
They have there beliefs and I would say that they dont come to the decesion lightly

JW believe that the blood is a gift from God and as such your own blood is holey (came from Judiaism) and to use some one elses blood in your body is an abommination.

Circumcisson is a practice not just Judisim but a lot of places uses it as cultural practice
In fact many non Jews in Ireland underwent the proceedure not long ago as it was the done thing

Richard Dawkins isnt really that good.He just argues against it never wanting to accept that it might be right.

Your right that the only belief should eb self belief
