i suppose there is a stereotype, ignorant Irish male,
defensiveness from such unsuitable partners is understandable.
but for some time now, since it was brought to my attention,
i do percieve a general scorn for all dick possessing people.

a lady meets me half way with respect and value or no deal.
i quite like the Doberman breed.

Although I have to admit, I don't date men from the same City as myself. I find the men there disrespectful, arrogant, self centered and lacking maturity. Most, not all that is. Familiarity definately breeds contempt!
It's nice to see an English Woman stick up for the Irish. Its lovely when women stick up for each other. And it would be nicer if a race would stick up for its own. When i saw this thread i thought it was a joke and there would be many men who would want to view a more positive reply. But then again its an escort site forum. Can you imagine if this thread was on a Facebook Forum. There would be a lot of Handbags flying!

I agree and disagree. I think the show 'Take me out' isn't quite representative of women across Ireland (thankfully , or it would be my turn to emmigrate elsewhere!). The girls on the show are impossible to please and completely unrealistic. I'm sure they are egg'ed on by the shows producers. As for the guys on the show...why would any bloke with any sense of self respect put himself through that????

I think the heart of the problem lies with some cultural insecurities we have in Ireland - both for men and women. As men, we are frightened to look soft or sensitive to the outside world. Hence instead of treating out female partners as equals we often have to be macho and dominant in our attitudes.

Irish women on the other hand, have tried to shed the old 'submissive, stay at home girl image' (prevalent in generations past) that they have overcompensated by being overly defensive and almost maculine in attitude.

It's a pity, because if we just met each other half way, we'd find it possible to be mutually respectful while being co-dependant without having to shed our masulinity or femininity.

Clearly the above is a gross generalization and not applicable to every man and woman in Ireland.

As for immigration into Ireland....I'm all for it! For one it's going to improve our gene pool and eventually we might actually start looking like an attractive race!!!. Cultutal and ethnic variety is my Utopia.

Well said Morpheus! I agree with your points about this type of behaviour not applying to all Irish women, as certainly not ALL of them could possibly be as bad as they seem on Take Me Out, otherwise all the men would actually have left the country, as you said you would!

I think that what I and many other men have felt here is that these type of women make men feel like they could never be good enough for them-- like they'd be doing us some kind of favour if they went out with us, as if we weren't worthy of them or something. Yuo see some of the totally random and seemingly arbitrary reasons that the ladies give on the show about why they turned off their light; fair enough, a guy isn't your type for whatever reason, but some of the nit-picky things they say about the tiniest little detail just goes beyond reason for me, and enters into a realm where NO ONE could EVER actually be good enough for these ladies-- they'd find reasons why Superman himself would be unworthy of going out with them!
