But to answer your question - I think there is an asshole in every man just as much as there is a bitch in every woman. Its up to the individual to keep that unsavory part of themselves under control especially for their loved ones. Unfortunately as you have pointed out, in long term relationships people tend to start taking their partner for granted and can start behaving like assholes. However, this can work both ways i.e both men and women can be the guilty party.
