often wondered that myself, maybe they just don't get the irish sense of humour, it can be quite crude at the best of times, it would be easy to take offence when english is not your first language

Not sure where you draw the line between central and eastern Europe, but no, I've met some with great senses of humour. It's just a different style.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

For each European nation, Eastern Europe begins just beyond its borders. The Portuguese probably think it begins in Spain.

Was in the middle of saying the same thing earlier but I got distracted, they have a different sense of humour but once you get your head around it they are as much fun as anyone else, of course there are a few with their head stuck up their arse like any nation but who wants to hang with those people anyway ...

Or maybe it's the "pretend something is funny even when it's not" bone that they're born without, innit Danny?
