They were saying earlier on that they had calculated the effect a new leader would have, and it would only result in a +3% shift in support.

Bearing in mind the abysmal levels they are at, this is not going to help

Yeah,really the damage has been done and it does not matter who the new leader will be as FF will get ahhnilated in the polls...

This would be a pity, as it is Aherne who brought the country to its knees, and is the person most responsible for the mess we are in

Fair enough but dont forget Cowen was Finance Minister at the height of the property bubble so he shares responsibility for all the bad decisions that were made over the last 10 years or so.

I don't like bertie too much either but both are as bad as each other...brian cowen was finance minister during the aherne years and surely played a massive part in our downfall....

Aherne pretty well took over Finance, as I understand it. AFAIK, Cowen had zero input into all major decisions.

He couldn't touch McCreevy when he was there, but once McCreevy left the rot set in - fast.

Four FF TDs have now stated publicly that they will be supporting Martin.

I read pretty well all the major political tomes that come out, so I couldn't swear to it.
