As someone who never smoked, I have never had to worry about the addictiveness of cigarettes but, if you really want to quit, you're going to face a lot tougher challenges than Friday night with the lads.
I was a heavy drinker, back in the day, and it would have been impossible for me to even consider going into a pub and not getting a pint. I thought I couldn't enjoy a night out if I was sober, and as for chatting to women..........
Now, I am well able to go out for a great night, stay totally sober, and enjoy myself a lot more than I ever did in the old days. Why, because now I remember the night out
Willpower, and a desire for a healthier lifestyle, should be your focus.
Don't forget, you can last a lot longer in the saddle if you're not out of breath from the ciggies.
Don't give in and, as Rayden says, it won't be long before it's a month, then two .....
Good luck Jimbop.

Honestly... soon you will be able to tell how stinky you used to be..... Your cloths, breath etc... If you don't want to pile on the pounds have a cuppa something (no sugar).... and take on an active exercise... or take the kids out to kick the ball to take your mind off the fags!!!
Now I have turned into a social smoker. Have a fag if I have a drink..... don't miss it though....
I think, if you want to give up, you will!!!! It's the wanting more then anything, otherwise you will fail.
I had a lot of failed attempts, but now I know, it was cos i was not ready to give up

Its so true, you have to WANT to give up truely. Ive had this argument so many times with peeps and my doc. I dont want to give up, so any attempts would be futile.
There are so many pressures out there to give up but FFS how much money would the governments lose in the tax on tobacco. They may go on about us to do this for health etc, but if we all did, bollocks the governments would be screwed.
I enjoy a smoke, whether its right or wrong, i dont drink very often.
You never hear all this crap on drinkers giving up , or gamblers, etc.
Just do what you want to do, as long as your not harming others.
Gonna get off my soap box now... lol
BTW Doozer, Will be sending Nicole over to Ireland to spank you, bad Mod, not sticking to your new years resolution! You wont like her when shes angry! lol
