It never occurred to me to make up a name - the only issue is that I have an Irish name so it can be a bit of nuisance when introducing myself to people from foreign parts.

The only good reason I can think of for giving anything other than your real name is if the lady you are meeting makes you so excited that I can't remember your own damn name. This has happened to me on occasion (Hint: see my sig!)

I never introduce myself by name when meeting an escort but if I am asked, which has only happened very rarely, I give my real name. Oddly even a couple of the escorts who know my name still call me Herodotus out of habit.

I always introduce myself by name when the girl answers the phone. It's not my real name but is very close to and sounds like my real name, easy to remember in case I forgot what my name was supposed to be.
