Gay organisations in New Zealand have slammed McDonald's for blocking gay-themed websites in 132 of it's branches across the country.

GayNZ.com, a gay lifestyle website providing a range of services has been denied access since McDonald's began their free Wifi service in New Zealand in December.

A McDonald's spokesperson has said that the restrictions are in place to ensure a family friendly content suitable for children

Maybe that site was just cut while they cut out gay porn, or porn in general.
If that's the case it's fine, as is not targeting gay people.

I worked in a place that tried to stop certain internet access.
Type tits into google and there was no way birds could be found, other than the non feathered variety

as in most companies, adult websites are usually blocked, but if its one individual site being blocked, that amounts to censorship and any type of censorship is wrong IMO

What a load of crap this is. Maccy D's provides FREE internet at their own expense so if they wanted to change every page visited to their own website then they can. If you want free, open, uncensored internet access then get the wallet out and pay for it like anyone else. This is more propaganda that pisses me off.

It's an incentive so that we, spend our money in their restaurants instead of their competitors. They factor this in to the price they charge...NOTHING IS FREE nw!

Yes of course, they may block a provider if they had their own supplier. But this was done to block an site they deemed inappropriate for adults..

I think all adult sites should be blocked in public, its hard enough for parients to censor what their children are googleing at home.

But how would a child have access to such sites in public? Surely parents should restrict access even via their handheld devices?

I don't really see what the issue here is, one of the many problems with this positive discrimination age we are moving more into. The gay and even bi "communities" [to include myself!] need to stop pressing these non-issues if they really want community backing and support.
