but with all the drinking I plan to do the day before it may not be feesible

Mmm... why not start the weaning process now? Even if you manage to cut down before hand, you would be off to a good start at least.

I suggest we set up a support group for all those who give up smoking on 1st January. This would take the form of a thread on which each person involved would state the method(s) they are using to kick the habit, the number of ciggies/cigars they had smoked the previous day (honesty essential) and a short descriptive piece about how they feel and how they are coping with things.

But as far as I am aware you have to be highly suggestible for hypnosis to work and even then there are no garuntees
