Christmas dinner ?

Yes, I usually go to the Salvation Army on Christmas Day and help cook the meal. It is lovely, we have turkey. As for ideas...I wont be able to go this year, so I am going to go on Christmas Eve and help prepare the food boxes that the Salvation Army give to every old person who attends the Christmas Meal. (They even provide a pet box too) One thing the Sally Army are always short of are people to pick people up to take them in for the meal- If you have a spare hour at all Christmas day why not give someone a lift?

I have a standing order set up to donate to The Simon Community through my company. But I think you are right, the hands on approach would really help.

Ah no, I am entirely selfish, I only do that once a year. The people that go to the lunch are hilarious, last year during prayers every time they started the sermon with 'Christmas, what is it all about...' This little old man started singing ''Whats it all about, Alfie''...they had to peel me off the floor. I know that if you ring up your local mission, they can give you a job that will only take an hour or so. Trust me, its fun

So what you gonna have ?
Christmas day is a family thing so I'll be having the usual turkey and ham.(I'm not a fan)

But on Christmas eve we have our own thing and this year we are gonna have Venison, Sweet potato and Baby boiled potato.

I've done Pheasant, wild boar, guinea fowl and duck before.

Anyone have any unusual dinners/ideas ?

Last year christmas dinner was cous cous and roast veg! Not big on traditions in my house.

I helped out at a shelter two years ago in Paris doing food prep and stuff but am awful in the kitchen! They all took the piss out of me!

I'm doing a Crisis Shelter in London this year. Staying away from the kitchen- this year I'm doing translation services which a lot of people don't realise is needed.
