I didn't see the film, but do remember reading an interview he gave in a magazine, and was shocked at the ease in which he was able to bring cocaine into America, Florida was wide open for the drug-trafficing trade back then, while the DEA was pretty much like Garda was back in the earily 80's, didn't have a clue
Yea it was his brother in law that got him caught. Howard Marks is an interesting guy born in wales educated in oxford.
yes jessica i know that movie very well.it is actually based on true events.i am not ashamed to say i actually cried when mercier was murdered.i remember watching it with my wife and i was so moved by the film i could have cried half way through the film.i think my wife sensed that i was very emotional moved as we where watching it and when mercier was murdered i couldnt hold it in any longer.christian brothers and priests how could they do that to children and the way they are found out and quietly shipped off on missionery in far countries allowing them to abuse more children.i think it is the worse shame ever brought on ireland.
I was a great movie The Catholic Church dosnt come out to well in it,
Great preformance from Aidan Quinn and you cannot help but to feel for the kids in it, the horrors that they met with every day at the hands of priests. Unfortunatly it could have happended in a number of insitutions in Ireland and the abuse as we all know was very prevelent at that time
Brilliant film
