I think there are many different reasons.

1. guys may not have the courage to talk to girls in the pub/club, so it's easier to just pay for getting laid.

2. There's a great number of really hot escorts - the type of girl many men think they'd never be able to shag otherwise

All the obvious reason have been stated but a big reason for me is discretion and security, we have seen many comments on the ladies security needs but from a clients point of view I feel far more secure visiting an escort than I would going out and having a casual affair. Whatever about the risks of getting caught visiting an escort, IMO having an affair carries far greater risks.
