That's not what the word representative means. And there are plenty of other ways to find people who are over 18. Most sociological research is done at universities, where you have large numbers of people who are over 18. They may also not be entirely representative of the general adult population, but I would bet their attitudes on this issue will be more typical than those of a self-selecting group of respondents on an escort site. Also, how do you know people here are over 18? Because the front page says "Escort Ireland is an adult website, so, before you enter, you must agree that you are an adult, consensually choosing to do so"? Do you really think that notice keeps all minors out?

You are assuming that this is where I am trying to get all my participants from.
I am trying to get as many people as I can from all walks of life in this country

Can I ask who you are and what institution you work for? You have no reason to want to be anonymous. If this is a legitimate study then you will be expecting to publish the results somewhere. You will have to say where you got your respondents, so at that stage it will clear to everyone that you were here. So any anonymity is temporary, and is just damaging your credibility.

This is an important issue to study, but what could you possibly learn from the responses you'll get here? We aren't representative of the general population. The people who respond won't even be representative of the E-I community.

It's not a question of time. I've probably spent more time posting on this thread than the survey would take. And I would happily take time to participate in legitimate research on this subject, as it is a very important one. But I don't think Dr Cross is being honest with us, so I'm not participating in this.
