    Default Nuns...any comment?

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.

This isn't just about nuns, the issue here is the Catholic Church being given free reign to yet again, deny persons who are in a disadvantaged position, their human rights.

It is truly shocking there seemed to be a culture in all our reform schools and orphanages of child abuse. It was so wide spread and common the powers to be had to know it was going on,the really frightening aspect of this is the deafening silence from the authorities whose power it was to protect these innocent children.Nobody stepped in to defend these terrified kids.
Its not just the abusers who are guilty, its all adult Irishmen and women ,the gaurds?..silence..the church...silence..the doctors and nurses the politicians the shopkeepers who sold the canes.....they all new ...silence...shame on all of us

I agree, and I am not condoning anyone, but you must remember the power the Catholic Church had then.

They could, and did, destroy careers.

It was very difficult to be seen to be against them

Equally to blame are the families that dumped their daughters into this places.
