Default What do you think of the grilling over codiene?

Any one gone into a pharmacy and asked for neurofen or solpadine and recieved a police style interview as to why you need it (cuz Im in pain or have a hangover and need some relief) I know some people are possibly over medicating on the stuff but still

    Any thoughts?

In England the pharmacies will only sell you one packet per customer- which puzzles me as if you were planning to kill yourself then surely you could just go to lots of different chemists?

Codeine is highly addictive though, and I know several people who would never leave home without their pills.

That is true, but even the small family run chemists in small towns where everone knows everyones business still have to ask why they need them. I know codeine is addictive and they usually work well. I mean the normall pain killers like panadol or annadine etc are useless and dont deal with the pain at all

By the time you got enough pills youd be too knackered to kill yourself or youd get run over crossing the road to go to the next chemist. Maybe thats their thinking

I get a pal in Spain to post over anything I need - I have a problem with my back and the same tablets cost me €40 here and €12 in Spain plus I don't need to go to to the Doc for a perscription saving me another €40.

i just tell them i have a hangover and whatever codiene based product i'm looking for is teh best at getting rid of it, then just stand there staring at them. everyone suffers from hangovers so the pharmacist usually shuts up and hands over the goods

Its an opiate and you can become addicted to it even people who take a break from it get withdrawal symptoms and they seem to rely on it for everything as in they use it when they get up in the morning as a sort of pick me up.

Default They are all useless in the dosages prescribed.

I have taken a whole pack in one day. I get a bit hazy but it does the job. As for selling one pack per customer. Walk up the road to another pharmacy and you have two packs then.

Even doctor prescribed anti inflams are useless because they usually only prescribe them for 7 days. It takes 14 days or so for the anti inflam levels to build up to the point where they work fine in the system.

The fact of the matter is on nearly all meds the dosages are too low to maximise their usage and the side effects are way overrated.

Long term usage, not so much the ammount ,is the key to the dangerous side effects. Long term usage of ALL methylated oral meds mangles the liver. They are methylated in order for the oral to make it through the first pass (the liver). Long term usage of injectables can cause (depending on the solution used) can cause heart disease etc.

Most docs and pharmacies and so called experts are shitting themselves of law suits as are the manufacturers. Between the lot of them ,its the customer gets ripped off with an under-dosed product.

    Clueless,
    Westside.
