Men and women are very different and if you look at any animal on this planet each sex within a unit has a specific function. If you go back thousands of years generally men were the providers and women the home makers. Men probable are more focused and direct because it is a trait needed for hunting but maybe not to need the dept of analises about feelings that women have. Women tended to forage and look after the den and discuss issues within a family unit so they would have interacted a lot more and maybe discussed feelings more.
Modern society does not work like this and we have men and womens roles mixed up a lot resulting with men becomming sensitive to feelings and stuff and some women adopting more mens roles.
On a slightly different issue I really believe that with the drive for equality between the sexes some women seem to have chosen to be more like men and we are now seeing male behavioural characteristics and traits developing in women.
I may have never agreed with you before and may never again but that is nail. on. the. head.
I held the door open for a woman a few weeks ago. She said "Thank you, you don't get that much these days".
I was surprised I have to say, as it is something I would always do. Hunter, gatherers, protectors.

You can bate the wife, but you can't bate the craic!
Yes that's true and makes me think of my partners pink pyjamas. Lots of men wear those these days

Pink actually used to be a man's colour up until fairly recently. Read this extract I pulled:
SOMETIMES, PINK IS THE COLOR FOR BOYS
A century ago, baby boys were swaddled in pink—a watered-down version of red—and girls were in blue, evocative of the Virgin Mary. Ladies’ Home Journal said, “The generally accepted rule is pink for the boy and blue for the girl. The reason is that pink being a more decided and stronger color is more suitable for the boy, while blue, which is more delicate and dainty, is prettier for the girl.”

We all turn pink after a few drinks anyway, don't we?
“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.
