That is the problem. Neither of those central midfielders will ever be international class. Whelen has some good moments, but the other bloke.......ffs. It's Trapatoni's fault picking poor players and his defensive mindset.

A defensive midset isnt that bad at times once you can back it up with creativity . Look at inter last year under mourinho , who would of tought any manager could get Eto to defend like in he did in cl final

I agree, you can't lose a game if you don't concede goals, but you have to have some quality to defend well.
Inter had good players, Mourinho gave them a plan and a belief in that plan.

I was at the game and i have say we were very poor.Russia played us of the pitch at times.Paul Green has to go he just is not up to international level.So many of our players didn't look fit.And as for the penalty well that was a joke it was never a pen.I left very disappointed but at least we got 2 goals back very important we get something on tuesday now.

I was also at the game and we were played off the pitch. However if Dunne didnt get a deflection the game could have been a lot different. We need midfileders. Bring in James McCarthy of even Mark Wilson because Green just isnt good enough for internantional football

The only saving grace is that all the big teams have lost 1 and points will be taken off them with more games to go.
