    Question Does Intimacy bother you?

A study conducted by the BBC has found lesbian, gay and bisexual viewers of the network want to see more positive depictions of LBG people on screen.

However, 18% of respondents surveyed said they were uncomfortable with on-screen portrayals of homosexuals, with scenes of "emotional and physical intimacy" being the main problem

    Does it bother you?

82%>18%. I would suggest that those clowns (teh 18%) grow up. As for the need for more positive depictions of gay people, I agree whole-heartedly. It bothers me quite a bit seeing how gay people (esp. men) are portrayed on screen.

At least there are some positive portrays of lesbian and gay people on TV these days, you ever notice how IF (and I mean if as it doesn’t happen very often you see a disabled person) they are usually portrayed as grumpy sods with a chip on their shoulder going around aimlessly wishing they were “normal” or looking for a “cure.”

I'm definitely in the 82%, not the 18%. And yes, JR, disabled people have a real image problem. Basically, most of your role models seem to be Bond villains:

List of Bond Villains with Physical Impairments
Dr No (Doctor No) - double arms amputee, has bionic metal prosthetics, good for cracking nuts.
Tee Hee Johnson (Live and Let Die) - lost his arm to a aligator, has fancy metal replacement.
Jaws (Various) - has metal teeth, presumably a result of a tragic dental accident. Is also of a considerable height.
    Oddjob (Goldfinger) - is non-verbal.
Whisper (Live and Let Die) - uh, speech impediment, possible respiratory illness.
Blofeld (Various) - wheelchair-user, sometimes with a facial scar.
Le Chiffre (Casino Royal) - asthma and facial scar, including a damaged tearduct which would weep blood.
Emilio Largo (Thunderball) - wears an eyepatch.
Scarpine (A View to A Kill) - facial scar.
Alex Trevelyan (Golden Eye) - facial burns.
Max Zorin (Tomorrow Never Dies) - facial scar.
Zao (Die Another Day) - facial scarring involving bits of metal imbedded in his skin.
Elektra King (The World is Not Enough) - disfigured ear.
Nick Nack (The Man with the Golden Gun) - dwarfism.
Renard (The World is Not Enough) - brain injury resulting in loss of taste, smell and experience of pain.
Mr Stamper (Tomorrow Never Dies) - neurological condition which reverses the experiences of pain and pleasure.

List taken from Diary of a Goldfish.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

People should be a lot more accepting. I doubt the kids who watch that show care that much about her arm.
