Question Sky once off payment ???

Does anybody know what's the story with Sky once off payment?
It is legal, easy to get, any issues about it etc ...

I had a look on the net but what I found confuses me.

I always get Sky or UPC, the biggest pack they have and I end up watching a music channel but paying a hefty bill, so maybe paying once and get it over with is a solution for me.

Check around because you can get satelite dishes with a once off payment for the dish and installation and thats it. You might be able to get music channels on them.

I'm not allowed to install satelite dishes where I live at the moment
The entire place is already pre-wired for Sky and this is the only tv provider allowed. That's why I was thinking about those Sky pay once deals and have no bills afterwards.

BTW, how come there are places in Ireland where you can only get Sky or Eircom ?
I thought consumer choice should be free ...
I came to live in the city centre in C...t street before, after I move in I found out that I am only allowed to have Sky as my tv provider and EIrcom as my phone provider.

Because the landlord probably has some deal with them.

I got that, but I don't think it should be allowed.
It's like me, putting Aldi in front of Tesco and guarding the entrance to Tesco so nobody gets in, just in Aldi.

If I'll be that rich or that bothered with the issue, I would bring them to court, honestly.

its because your appartment block is all hooked up to sky through a couple of aerials which are wired to each appartment
if it wasnt done this way each person in each appartment would have to put up their own dish which would end up looking shit with so many dishes everywhere

Well, I suppose it makes a little sense now.
Not the ideal situation to restrict people's choice but at least I see one good reason for it.
