The Stig 'to be killed off'

'Top Gear' presenter James May has claimed that The Stig would be killed off before being replaced by a different driver, reports The Sun.

The news follows the revelation that the show's current mystery driver has been identified as SAS hero Ben Collins, after a court battle allowed him to publish an autobiography unmasking him as The Stig.

May also suggested that the driver could be ousted in a similar way to his predecessor Perry McCarthy, when his identity was revealed back in 2003.

He said that he would probably team up with fellow 'Top Gear' hosts Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond to beat up The Stig, before taking back his famous white outfit and helmet.

The 47-year-old presenter told The Sun: "There was black-overalls Stig, who had to be dealt with by Andy.

"And then we got white-overalls Stig, who will be dealt with.

"We start some filming next week. We've had some thoughts - driving to The Stig's house and nailing his head to the table was one.

"And getting our overalls back because they're not his.

"And those stupid, poncy shoes he wears. They're ours. And the gloves."

'Top Gear' is due to come back for a new series later this year.
