"and this ensures that claims online will be subject to the same strict scrutiny of those in traditional media,"

The same strict scrutiny? Yeah right. Every second ad is trying to sell us something damaging to our health.

An example that really annoys me is the ones for sensitive teeth. You have smiley people coming in and a slick ad about how these people with sensitive teeth get better after using sensodyne.

I used to have extremely sensitive teeth, especially to cold things or anything that was in any way brittle. My teeth used to be so sensitive that I couldn't even eat biscuits without putting liquid in them. The sensodyne or any other sensitive toothpaste you care to mention do NOTHING any other toothpaste won't, I know from personal experience.

Aloe Vera, completely natural toothpaste without all the additional toxic chemicals, has been shown in clinical trials to outperform all the commercial brands, the studies are available for all to see on pubmed. I should say that as part of my regime I also use listerine mouthwash and floss and take magnesium. I believe helps my teeth get the minerals it needs to remineralize and repair themselves. Now they are near perfect and all because of my regime. I am positive it is my regime because whenever I stop doing it exactly and they become sore all I have to do is do it every night again and they get back to perfection. Whenever they get the slightest bit sore I stick to my regime and like clockwork, they get really strong again.

Ads like that make me mad because they're such lies, they're so misleading. "I'm a dentist, and I recommend Sensodyne for sensitive teeth".... only because you're being paid to say that. Oh yeah... and some have a part where they're saying fruit and fruit juices are bad for your teeth. Christ almighty, what disgusting and despicable nonsense. People need to learn that the dentists don't care about you, they would love nothing better than to see you coming back again the next time requiring more fillings. But oohhh... they wouldn't allow ads featuring natural remedies like the Aloe Vera toothpaste at all out of supposed concern for people's health, they've even been trying to ban supplements on multiple occasions.

All the dentists want to do is fill, fill, fill, take out teeth. They try to normalize this idea of taking out wisdom teeth nowadays...: "shur what do you need them for anyway".... I hate them all. They destroy people's teeth. Wild animals don't have their teeth fall out one fifth of the way through their lives and they NEVER brush their teeth. It is all a modern phenomenon. Modern-day dentistry is nothing but a huge scam, promoted by under-education of people about their teeth. Most dentists won't even tell you your teeth can repair themselves or what you should be doing at all.

And now the corperate world is trying to pry its grubby hands into online activities. It's all about control.... often these things are doctored beyond any semblance of truth, if Ruhama and the vicious anti-escorting hate in the newspapers has taught us anything it's that. Despite what it says in the article, you CAN'T just advertise something that isn't true now... that's false advertising, whether online or not they can be prosecuted and I've heard that many small web companies live in fear of being shut down one by or two small complaints (which could be malicious ones). To try to get around the people that fight for fairness and our freedom, they will try all kinds of spin and doctoring when in reality all they want is more control to be able to do what they want.

The internet is the last bastion of the people. The likes of Ruhama and big corperations and many different professions all really hate the internet because it allows people to exchange the real truth of their own experiences and to offer advice to people, without the need to pay hundreds or thousands to anyone for it. Even programmes and newspapers that are supposed to be candid and uncensored would NEVER say much of the truth that can be found online because they're all controlled. They would have E-I shut down tomorrow if they thought they could get away with it.

I cannot say how it will work over here, but in Denmark they have gone after and prosecuted lots of online only ads, because they do not provide the correct amount of tax on the full price or some sorts. We are talking fines up into the tens of thousands of euro.
Also, there is a happy/sad smiley system in place that will advice customers of whether there has been any convictions against that website, lawsuits against it, whether health and safety has been out and given a restaurant a clean bill of health etc. It works quite well actually. Now, for it to work as well as it has done it Denmark, most/all websites has to be within the .dk domain, because the Danish government has control of this.

Bringing us to the point you bring up Patricia, since this website is hosted on a .com domain, doesn't really matter what the irish government decides to do, they have no way imposing fines on ads on it. Wahey free internet eh.

I never experienced that, my teeth didn't get any better at all. I went from strictly going every 6 months and requiring fillings half the time, to going no time in over the past 18 months.

I wish I could say about five years, but I am almost certain I will never have to visit a dentist again. My teeth don't hurt anymore.
