Thread: Irish Times Article today Monday 30th August

Default Irish Times Article today Monday 30th August

Surprised there has been no thread yet on the article in today's Irish times.

I have yet to see any evidence of a brothel or forced prostitution so could someone point out to me what I am missing.

In fact I visited one of the girls that was quoted in the article only last week and can assure anyone that she is more than a willing participant.
In fact she is one of the best Escorts I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with working in surroundings that I could only dream of living in.

Bad Journalism or am I more naive than I thought ?

A journalist will always write to an agenda, they are given that agenda by the editor. Note the term Ruhama Client. Unfortunately you can always find someone to fit the bill, if you want to find the dark side of anything. This is part of a pro Ruhama campaign instigated by Geraldine Rowley, nothing more.

what is so wrong to add a comment to a review? i am not the only girl who did this. and if i had the chance to put it,i knew i have right so...i put that comment...why not?
and about the person who write that article...i can't say nothing because i don't know him/her. but he/she doesn't know me, so i think shouldn't write it. maybe if will meet me and a girl who really has a pimp, that journalist will see the difference.
anyway,i learn to don't care too much about others are saying....i am happy and free to do what and when i want....that's more important for me.

Rebekah, don't worry about it, it isn't your fault. It could have been any of us.

I am surprised you have not come across the first rule of journalism:

Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story
The Gods are just, and of our pleasant vices
    Make instruments to plague us

Personally, I have had a few negative punts but I have never written a negative review and I don't think I will. It's a person's livelyhood you're talking about.

in the main i agree with above, the only time would do so, is if it was fraud, i.e, lies about service offered, but to the rest, chalk it up to luck

I think the worst thing about this article is the clear targetting and naming of an individual escort on E-I, who gave no permission to be named or to have these slanderous accusations made against her. Normally the tabloids don't do this, they just go ahead with their cock and bull story and most people know it's ridiculous but like to read it anyway because it's fun to see what they say. But even in the most sensational tabloid stories, they never make wild extrapolations and wild speculation about what such and such "really" meant, not like that for ordinary sentences. Any fool can see how retarded that is, but these people are beneath fools.

Kathy Sheridan probably thought that Rebeka isn't a fluent English speaker and probably won't take her to court, she probably thought she is a soft touch. It's times like this that E-I would do really well if they had a legal team to help them, lawyers specialized in escort law who have no hangups aout any of it. We've heard things about this before but where are they?

"IN THIS FANTASY WORLD of mass denial and self-delusion".... more like her own fantasy world of mass denial and self-delusion.

"Kathy Sheridan up until recently was billed as The Irish Times Journalist Of The Year. The Irish Times stopped giving her this billing after I pointed out that she had said on national television that she thought it was a shame Sean Fitzpatrick should suffer amid the present banking scandals in Ireland, because she knew Sean Fitzpatrick and considered Sean Fitzpatrick a decent man. Sean Fitzpatrick was the chief of Anglo Irish Bank responsible for fraudulently concealing that bank's collapse with the aid of corrupt billion dollar transfers from the corrupt Irish Life And Permanent company whose Board chief is Gillian Bowler."

Kelly, if prostitution was legal and a girl could work independently but was wrongly alleged to be working under a pimp then you might have an argument for slander. Given the current law that's not a case I would be taking on as to make it you would have to admit an illegal act.

It is completely legal to work as a independent escort, fiatpunter. The grey area here is that the name that is being slandered is a fictional one, therefore it would not stand in a court.
