PEP/ Sexual Health/HIV
I have been having a discussion on a advice forum I am a member of, and I thought some of the information may be useful to some here.
How many of you have had a split condom? If so, were you aware of PEP?
PEP (Post Exposure Prophylaxis) stands for a course of drugs that can be given to you that can prevent HIV virus developing. It is a month long course of drugs with admittedly horrendous side effects, but it may be useful to know it is available..but only effective if commenced within 4-72 hours after exposure.
I am not trying to scaremonger as these incidences are thankfully rare, but anyone indulging in anal sex who has an accident may want to consider heading straight to the local A&E and requesting it. I think the private clinics may be able to prescribe it also.
