He always got on well with the chairman. He always backed him and didn't interfere. It's not the same as Liverpool.

Something else must have happened. It can't be the Milner transfer as he was resigned to losing him. I remember him saying a few months ago if any player was sold without his consent he would leave. I wonder is Ashley Young about to be sold and maybe that's the reason?

He also said a few days ago that he would still be at Celtic only for his wife got sick that time. If Lennon doesn't last he'll be back there.
Help Keyla in her fight with cancer. Every little helps.
It could happen to any of us.

I think the relations beween the two have been in decline for the last year.Lerner has put this sell to buy policy into the club meaning they had to sell some of the players they had before they brought in anyone..not good enough for a top 6 club. With milner off to mancity and young off to spurs they had lost their best 2 players, not ideal for a top-4 push....In the end he just got feed up of the tight financial restrictions and probably thoughtit was as far ashe could take them...
I have lived a life of regrets.

    This is a bombshell................

Big loss for Villa ,, so late in summer, Could not have hapened at a worse time.
I have a strange feeling this is not something within football issues,
    maybe his woman problems again?
    Hopefully not of course.

then again if health related it would not be announced like this !!!!!!!!

    James Milner??

I think its in part to do with Milners transfer and Luke Young wanting out too and O'Neil wont be given funds to replace them.
Its a shame really that it has come to this.
On a lighter note, I keep hearing on the radio that if England loose against Hungry wed night Cappello will be out.
Maybe O Neil could get the English job

I wonder does O’Neill wish he’d quit a few weeks ago and tried for the Liverpool job?

I know the man is near 60 but I see him as the only man and the best man for the Untied job when Fergie stands-down.

I can understand him not wanting to let Milner go but 30M plus most likely Ireland it’s a lot for a club like Villa to turn down.
