'' I have yet to see a prostitute that went into it out of free will. There is always some underlying factor in a person's life, where they have lost all self-dignity. They have been stripped of dignity and they are being dehumanised all over again."

What a load of shite. What do any of the escorts think of this statement?

we should not bury our heads in the sand and say there is no trafficking because im sure it does happen... there are criminals in this country who have no conscience and would do anything to make money... and brothels/agencys run by people like this should be avoided... if they didnt have any clients they wouldnt be in business!

personally I could not live with myself if I was seeing girls who were forced to be here... we all have female family members and would we want that for them ..to be brought to a country and used...NO!... so we should not except it for any female...

but the part that gets me is... "Walk in a Punter. Walk out a Rapist." ... this can not be true for those of us who go see independant escorts who do this job because it is what they want and are not being forced to work as a escort...
    Rapist is hard to take...

I agree Jack, but I dont think they nare distinguishing independent escort from traffiked escort. They seem to be taking the Ruhama stance here.

However Limerick is full of Brothels and streetwalkers. They dont do anything discretly. I was driving down town last night and the Romainain girls were out touting for business and being as obvious as possible. I saw them ask a few passers by if they wanted a girlfriend for an hour at the top of her lungs with know regard for who else was around. 5 mins later I see their pimp walk up to them. Its these people who should be targeted

"When did you ever see a 23-year-old beautiful girl saying: 'I'm going to be a prostitute?' It doesn't happen," he said. "They might be smiling and saying they are happy to be there because they have learned to be helpful to survive.""

What a crackpot clown. Maybe I could accept there being obviously retarded/deranged people in the gardai sometimes. But it's quite another thing to have one of them as an inspector or sargeant.

Something I find very weird is how when EP was commenting on this article in another topic, he seemed to have picked out all the worst things while neglecting to show how crazy the article was.

Inspector O'Reilly appealed to the general public to report any suspicious activity ''particularly if men are calling or there is activity in the area that doesnt add up''...
Such as the way he quoted: ''I have yet to see a prostitute that went into it out of her own free will'' and yet neglected to quote the part right after: "There is always some underlying factor in a person's life, where they have lost all self-dignity. With the first bit alone, he could be talking about his personal experiences where he only comes across that type of woman (although that is still very unlikely in Ireland). With the second part of the quote, all is clear.... these are his own personal, minority views and not believing what the girls are saying themselves. Wouldn't it have been a lot better to clear things up by quoting the second part? hmmm... I just find it strange out even people in our own ranks will try to dramatize it sometimes.

    Default pimps

there are women being trafficked and it is terrible all pimps should b castrated. And raiding brothels will not stop them. If organised crime was tackled head on it might b a start . All independent escorts do enter this profession do enter this of their own free will but usually to with financial problems cos money drives every thing in this world . As for brothels most girls dont want b there a pimps are ruthless . And if escorting was made legal and crime tackled as i said before it would b better than media grabbing headlines

Have'nt you to admire a mature, progressive nation such as The Netherlands.
Sexy girls shake their hips and work without fear. The areas are tourist attractions.

Cannabis is freely sold to adults, leaving the police force free to monitor and control
the supply of hard, damaging drugs.

Are you goin' for a pint?

The recent brothel cases in Cork had no trafficking involved and what do they do? They close them down. The recent brothel cases in Dublin had no trafficking involved and what do they do? They close them down. Most of the girls work of their own free will. There are bound to be cases of trafficking and its important that they do close these but they are going the wrong way about it.

It would be like saying some guy stole my car so im going to kick the shit out of every guy i see driving the same car as mine. Its a back to front approach that wont work and the proof is in the history in that have they come any closer to protecting trafficked girls? No they havnt.

Because of ppl like Ruhama, the industry gets driven further underground, further out of the way and public eye and increases the chances of trafficked girls not being freed. They are actually helping traffickers.

I agree with you on this, as someone who worked pre internet I have seen my fair share of distressing sights .
Many blame the internet for trafficing and forced prostitution, however there were times in the past when I would
have been very grateful for a site like this that I could log onto and get assistance such as is available here .
