What these guys dont realise is this. Once a girl gets her head around the job and once she is used to it ,it offers HUGE advantages to her. She has more time, more money and more control of her day than in a normal job. Im not saying its an easy job and im not saying its all as glamorous as it appears but i am saying that there is very good financial to time invested benefit and if a girl has a good head on her and uses the money wisely and knows when to call it a day ,she will do very well.

I agree Westie. What is interesting about the article from Limerick and other such articles, is that brothels have now become synonymous with trafficking.......if two escorts share a premises, then it is legally a brothel. If they are independents, they are sharing a premises for a) added security, b) to reduce their individual overheads and c) because they may work together as a duo or d) because they rent a bedroom in an apartment for a period of time and some other escort is renting the other bedroom in the apartment. Brothels do not automatically equate with either agencies, pimps or trafficking.

Interestingly from what was written on another post on this thread, these Romanian girls and their pimps seem to be openly parading around the streets of Limerick touting for business at will while the Gardai go after the off street trade. Would it not make more sense to get them off the streets, where the general public and children in particular would not be confronted with these activities and tackle those who are controlling them, then going after non-trafficked escorts who are motivated in trying to make money for themselves and conduct themselves with some discretion between four walls.

Maybe the powers that be would prefer street-walkers so that they can satisfy their voyeuristic proclivities.

Its not all sunshine in Amsterdam either as there is still a big problem with pimping there, alot of girls in the windows are
pimped still , especially Africans and girls from places like Dominican republic etc . Alot of the windows away from the
centre are mostly black girls and u see the pimps hanging around
As regards the cannibas they are talking about the cafes only being able to sell to the locals as they want to cut out
the drug tourism trade. How this will be enforced i do not know, but it is being discussed ,maybe ID will have to be produced. Also it seems that the amount of windows that will be licensed will be drastically reduced aswell

The recent brothel cases in Cork had no trafficking involved and what do they do? They close them down. The recent brothel cases in Dublin had no trafficking involved and what do they do? They close them down. Most of the girls work of their own free will.

As you quite correctly stated there was no trafficking involved and the probably most of the girls probably did work of their own free will but that does not take away from the fact that there was a pimp/madam involved in these brothels living of the earnings of these girls which is illegal in this state( i think). Thats why they were shut down.

Wouldn't it be great if maybe one of the escorts did a radio interview and said she was there of her own free will, the gardai manhandled her etc, it would make a complete show of the guards and make people realise that escorting is here to stay and that this is just a blip in the system.

Its the bigger picture im looking at. Where are all the guys that went there gone now? Looking somewhere else. Are these girls trafficked? We dont know.

The prob with the laws approach to this industry is they keep moving the goalpost.

If something is popular/addictive and the state ban it, unscrupulous type people
with nothing to lose, will control that illicit activity.

Hopefully, escorting will avoid this, but drugs (soft and hard) have been victim
of this foolish/care-lacking standpoint.

regarding the Romanians working in the city its incredible how they got away with it for so long they were busted recently prior to that walked outside pubs one straight across the road from a primary school outside nightclubs too two of my friends robbed they take u up a side roads scumbag pimps arrive u have to hand over your money, these scum operated openly but it was only a mater of time before they were caught out - great country this which opens the doors & allows this venom to litter the streets...

Its because technically , the indepts are brothels if they are working together in the eyes of the law. This is the problem, if girls work together for protection or security or even just for company or peace of mind generally ,they are still a brothel.
