Why would anyone choose to be a Satanist? Surely the notion of worshipping evil is an ultimately self-destructive philosophy? Even if you choose to reject the idea of a god (or gods), surely you'd just be spiritually "neutral" - why, then, swing to the other side and be a Satanist?

Even if you subscribe to the notion of "doing what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law", you still have to conform to societal norms or end up in jail, so it's not like you can embrace your inner devil-worshipper and seriously call it a personal faith.

There are many different types of Satanism. You can look them up on wikipedia. A lot of them are for loonies. Some of them are very humanist. Wouldn't be this mouse's cup of tea.
