Default Target the punters..not the prostitutes

I was reading the in the daily mirror and i came across an article that that gardai are been urged to target punters who pay for sexual favours from street girls, similar to laws that are currently in sweden..heres the gist of it....

The imigrant council of ireland believes the no. of women on the game will fall if detectives target men who pay for sexual favours. It said a similar initiative that is proving to be a success.
Swedish law makers have crimilised the purchase of sexbut not the sale of sex.The ICI pointed to an evaluation report that found that the number of vice girls have halved in the past decade in sweden since this law was brought in.The human rights charity believesthe same sort of results can be achieved here.Recent research showsone in 15 men in ireland has paid with illict sex with a prostitute. And morethan 2/3of sexworkers operate outside dublin in rural areas. The majority of prostitutes in ireland and foreign nationals and more than 95% are drug users.
The ICI said these women are the real victims of the seedy underworld sex trade. An evaluation report called the prohibition of the purchase of a sexual service:an evaluation 1998-2008 was carried out by the chancellor of sweden. The commison took evidancefrom women cyrrenyly in prostitution, ones who had left the sex trade, police and social workers.
It found the law acted as a barrier against the estabishment of traffickers and pimps in sweden-another problem in ireland. It also led to a reduction in organised crime.
I have lived a life of regrets.

There was a policy in Middlesborough, England, the police launched a 'name & shame' policy. There was an area where street girls worked, the police used to publish the number plates of cars caught kerb crawling in the area in the local paper. The USA also has a policy where they also target the punters, they usually use under cover officers to entrap punters.

Edinburgh & Glasgow police had a different policy, their solution was to allow the girls to work from saunas/parlours & they used to leave them alone.

The street scene is different to visiting an escort, you are not picking up a girl for sexual favours in a public place, you visit an escort & pay for her time, what happens is between to consenting adults.

I started this thread mainly because a couple of ppl recently are looking for street girls and in essense it was a warning to them that it has become potentially more dangerous for them and vice girls. If someone asked for an opinion from myself i would say choose an escort over these desperate women.

I think there is a huge difference between street girls and escorts. I think something does need to be done to help protect the girls who work in that particular field. I don't agree that the punters should be targeted but what is a better alternative?

You are right there is a major differnce between the two...the worst problem we have is these women are being trafficked in to this country by pimps and criminals and unfortuantly they are being forced to turn to these ppl as in most cases they have no choice.Tighter regulations must be introduced to help these women.

The imigrant council: "here to serve and protect the women and to embarrass and cause the death of , the men". By causing the embarrassment of going to court, named and shamed and then going into a depression and then killing yourself.

What a great place the immigrant council is.

There are no women trafficked into Ireland in the "seedy sex trade", it has been shown by reports to be either a bogus issue or one that is of such a small percentage of women that even if you were big into it you would probably never in your life come across them.

This is crackpot nonsense, borne out of psychologically demented and deranged individuals in charge of us all. It would be like trying to penalize the people who buy smuggled cigarettes or drugs and not the people who sell them. It is based on their primitive hatred and prejudices against other males and pretend sympathy towards females..... and with women it's based on jealousy of prostitutes.

Where do they say this??? I'm ready to slam abuse at them and complain to hell about it. But I'm not going to talk about "cause the death of". I wouldn't trust their sanity enough or the sanity of other government officials by making a complaint with my real name. Nothing surprises me anymore about what these people are capable of.
