They are simply not good enough at this level to be considered a great team.Capello could have shown his class by dropping the likes of rooney and lampard who have simply not contributed anything at this world cup.Why crouch was never given a shot at the WC i will never know.I mean the man earns 6m a year to manage the team and is making the same mistakes as mclaren and erikson before him, picking players on reputation rather than form. Also what was the reason for bringing beckam to the wc surely he cannot contribute much.I don't rate the player at all, surely its time he retired.

Somethings gone wrong between then and now. When he was beating teams like Croatia he was playing players in form like Walcott at he time. Walcott didn't deserve his place later on but at that time he got it right. Now he has picked players that were out of form and Heskey for his club and yet started for England!!!. It doesn't look good when you bring players like Upson and Heskey to the World Cup. Very average players who are more suited for a lower half team or a championship team. Also bringing Carragher out of retirement showed desperation. But when you think about it they don't have that many good defenders. But i would have chosen Gary Neville ahead of him.

He didn't have a clue who his best goalkeeper was. Green should have been last in the pecking order. He and Upson came from a struggling West Ham team and their confidence can't be at the best after a season like that. Hart should have been the number one keeper. But it was too late as he didn't get much experience in the previous games. By right in previous friendlies he should have tried Hart, Dawson and choose Zamora over Heskey. Lampard and Gerrard shouldn't be playing together. It should only be one of them and the other on the bench. Also which ever one of them to play to be in a more forward position where their more dangerous.

Even by getting team selection and tactics wrong England should do better as the bulk of the team are very good players. I think also something has gone wrong in the camp. There might be one or two egos who are trying to run the show. I wouldn't be surprised if Terry is behind the unrest. The best thing to do is get rid of one or two of these no matter who they are and what they achieved in the past. I think Rooney was out of form because he isn't fully fit. He should possibly have been on the bench in the first few games to ase his way in. Gerrards been out of form all season. I think Capello should stay. If they get rid of him the same problems will still be there.

This should have been the players who were selected for the squad and then start. There are one or two players you have to play as theres very little other choice. If Rooney was fully fit he would be in instead of Defoe.

Hart, A Cole, Dawson, King(when fit), Neville, Young, Lampard, Barry, Milner, Defoe, Zamora

Absolutely fukin spot on with that analysis there H/man.

I would agree with nine of the team you have selected but lampard has not done a thing at this level, very poor player and i have sneaking suspicion that zamora will be a one hit wonder last season like andy johnson was at crystal palace few years back.

I agree, he did well under Hodgeson but for Capello, doubtful

I read today that Redknapp was throwing his hat into the ring. He said who would turn down England. If the job is available in a few weeks time there would be no better man to kick those over payed pre madonnas up the arse. See what he done at Spurs who were struggling when he took over. The mind set of every English supporter and media has to change. They have to forget about winning tournaments and concentrate first on getting the right players on form and in the right positions. Also take it game by game and not with this attitude that they win the tournament before they play.
Help Keyla in her fight with cancer. Every little helps.
It could happen to any of us.

I agree harry redknapp would be the perfect choice for the england job.Not only would he be a disiplinarion he would also put the arm around the younger player.Capello comes across as a bit cold a bit emotionless at times. This world cup campain has been unrivalling for months though with the john terry affair and cole not to mention lord triesman. Also it mean spurs would go back to being rubbish again which would make me very happy....

I didn't get a sense that they were an actual 'English' team, no camaraderie, just overpaid players sharing a pitch.

England were very poor in this World Cup and deserved to get beaten by Germany yesterday disallowed goal notwithstanding.
I think that the whole mindset has to change.Rooney Lampard Terry etc.look world beaters when they play for their clubs but dont seem to have the appetite for the game with the England shirt on their backs. As Ciaran Fitzgerald once asked "Wheres your f*****g pride lads?"
    The Truth is out there.
