Maybe there is an obvious answer but why do escorts not take calls from landlines??

It could be a prankster from a phonebox/payphone. Also it's not very discreet from a clients point of view if he calls from his house and when the bill comes the call to the escort will show up. Another thing and more importantly the client can't call the escort when he's outside her appartment for the floor and room number. Also the escort wouldn't be able to call/text the client if she had to cancel at the last minute if he was using a landline as he would be on his way there. Mobile phones make more sense.
