Only in an extremely limited number of cases is it even considered in either of those situations. There isn't a grave problem with prostitution if it's not adultery, they get whiplashed sometimes and jail terms sometimes. Most of the time, they just overlook it like they do here. There's even talk of legalizing prostitution there:

That would put them AHEAD of us in that way. Most of the capital punishments are never given, it's very rare.

The only things that are genuinely given capital punishment in Iran are:

    1. Rape.

    2. Murder.

    3. Pedophilia.

I agree that the punishment is wrong just like a jail term is here. But no, prostitutes aren't just hanged just for being prostitutes as rover and others seemed to be implying, especially not unless they've been given severe warnings for whatever reason the people in charge don't want it.

Let's be realistic here: out of the 75 million population of Iran, a few enactions of capital punishment isn't that much. And they don't do it for ordinary prostitution or even ordinary adultery. Out of the small number carried out, they are almost ALL of rape, murder or pedophilia.... maybe some judges there somewhere are crazy, but they don't just routinely round up escorts and execute them.

Other muslim countries are much worse than Iran. The Chinese are notorious for carrying out beheadings with very little evidence. Iran is different, it's like the most developed muslim country.

I can't say the following for sure, but I think I would much rather go to a prostitute in Iran than in a country like South Africa, where most of them carry guns and a huge percentage have AIDS.

I just thought it was a bit much for Rover to be putting that as the first topic.
Atta boy Nicegirls, I generally get things wrong, perhaps it may in the remote parts of Afganistan.

My mistake but it is quite common in other middle eastern countries,it still does not disguise the fact that this should not be going on in this day and age.
I have lived a life of regrets.

no no of course it has to do with the religion, I just didn't want to say it out loud. i guess what i was trying to do was to remove that barrier we have about other religions, especially the more mysterious types like Islam. so many people think that what happens is shocking, 'but thats just what their religion is like', and then do nothing about it. I was trying to separate it to open up a train of thought that would connect the reader to the problem and then maybe they'd sign a petition. bit garbled but i hope you get what i mean. It's so easy to say 'oh its their religion, nothing to do with us!'

I don't feel guilty because I'm not doing anything wrong. As for the married/in relationship punters... well, it depends on the circumstances I'm sure. Not married so can't comment.

On the secondary issue raised... I find all religous ideologies a ludricous mish-mash of superstition, myth, wishful thinking and sexual neuroses. Islam seems the most malignant and barbaric of the bunch. It is one hell of a dysfunctional culture that stones a person for being raped.

That would put them AHEAD of us in that way. Sometimes some regions might give it out for some adultery or something, those would be like the conservatives here. In reality those aren't carried out.

You're far, far more likely to die from the troubles that have been going on there than execution. Executing people is mainly trying to keep a cap on the violence, when things are so bad sometimes you just have to take sharp, very strong measures to prevent the country falling apart completely.

Other muslim countries are much worse than Iran. The Chinese are notorious for carrying out beheadings with very little evidence. Iran is different, it's like the most developed muslim country.

I just thought it was a bit much for Rover to be putting that as the first post, when prostitutes in Iran are NOT given that type of punishment.

    so whats your point?
it's not as bad as we're making out so no worries?
Iran the next sex tourism hot spot? why are you getting so worked up? either way what happens is atrocious, anyone would think you are on some sort of Iran tourist board.

No Rover, you are correct, Nicegirls in incorrect.............

There was a moratorium put on stoning in Iran in 2002 and a submission made to parliament in 2008 to have it scrapped but this is still being reviwed as an yet it has not been removed from the Islamic penal code in Iran..........

Once again, women are not stoned to death in Iran for prostitution.

Maybe they are whipped if they are soliciting men obviously in public, but not routinely stoned.

Wrong, I've no resentments towards client; I understand men are wired to have sex with as many women as possible. I think a woman would be foolish to think she can come between a man and his sexuality.
