Default The cunt to watch out for

    Denis Naughten.

"We have to get rid of the idea of the 'happy hooker' myth. These are real people who are being abused and men who pay for sex should really hear what these women have to say about them and really think about them,. There is nothing harmless about it. Lives are being ruined and these women may be compliant out of coercion, but they are not consenting and we have to stop kidding ourselves," insists Gerardine.

Fine Gael spokesman, Denis Naughton is in agreement. "It's well over a year since the introduction of human-trafficking legislation, yet the Government has failed to establish adequate protections and secure accommodation for these victims and to ensure prosecutions against traffickers occur. Some 151 investigations have been undertaken by the gardai in the last 18 months into alleged trafficking but there have been no prosecutions to date.

"It's time that Ireland hit the demand end of this multi-million euro illegal industry. Our law currently provides for a defence in court to prove that they did not know that the person was trafficked.
It's a myth is it? Are you sure you're not just trying to push your moral agenda using the myth of trafficking?

The 'happy hooker' myth a far cry from reality of sex trade - Analysis, Opinion - Independent.ie

SOME 1,000 women were involved every week in the indoor sex industry in the Republic, Fine Gael immigration spokesman Denis Naughten told the Dáil.

“The majority of them are migrant women, most of whom have been trafficked into this country,’’ he said.
    Bullshit.

Mr Naughten said the Dutch authorities had recently decided to close a third of Amsterdam’s notorious red light district because its liberal policy on prostitution had failed to prevent organised crime and human trafficking. Similarly, he said, both Norway and Sweden had outlawed the buying of services from a prostitute.
    The absurd:

ORGANISED CRIME gangs are setting up foreign language schools to act as a front for prostitution, Fine Gael’s spokesman on immigration and integration Denis Naughten has claimed.

    Finally, some truth:

65 suspected human trafficking cases investigated

Most of the cases involve asylum seekers (32) or separated children seeking asylum (14). Most of the remainder of cases involve immigrants, those living here illegally. Four cases involve EU nationals.
Wow, surprise surprise, most are asylum seekers or those living here illegally who when caught trying to make an extra buck claim they were "trafficked" in order to avoid deportation.

Dennis, if we have this huge trafficking problem then why aren't there more cases?

65 suspected human trafficking cases investigated - The Irish Times - Mon, Jun 29, 2009

If this cunt gets into a situation of power he'll stop at nothing to make prostitution out and out illegal in Ireland, no TD will vote against this, who wants to be the TD who voted FOR prostitution?

    Dennis Naughten is Ruhama's puppet.

I don't claim to be any sort of expert here but shouldnt Ruhama's focus be drug addicted and pimp-abused street walkers, whcih was the case at their inception....

Ruhama are a Catholic organisation. There spokesperson Gerladine Rowley, otherwise known as "Sister Gerladine Rowley". They are basically nuns who want to stop prostitution, lap dancing, adults buying dildos at Ann Summers. The Magdalene Launderies closed and Ruhama opened. Their agenda is to stop prostitution etc, so they take a lot of money from government grants etc and they spend the vast majority paying themselves and making PR videos portaying Irish men as rapists for using escorts etc. They do very little if anything to help sex workers. I think they have a van on the streets 2 nights a week or something like that for street prostitutes to come into if they want a cup of tea but I doubt they do anything practical like give out free condoms. Ruhama have jumped on the trafficking issue and are trying to make out all escorts are trafficked, because this is their only means of gaining public support. Their plans will only drive prostitution further underground and make it more dangerous for all sex workers.

I am never going to have personal pop at someones belief's thats their business but the catholic church's control over this country are on the wane and for Ruhama to tell us what to do with our lives is a complete joke after the countless lives destroyed by the abuse of the church in this country and then have the gal to cover it up.
I have lived a life of regrets.

Yes so ZERO percent of those 151 investigations resulted in any prosecution and they were all a big fucking waste of time and taxpayers' money. One of the most annoying things about stupid people is when they say something that they think is arguing for their case, when it's actually showing the exact opposite. If his argument was the exact opposite, like "out of only 15 investigations, 4 resulted in a prosecution", then he could argue for more investigations.

But you can't argue for PROSECUTIONS, you can only argue for INVESTIGATIONS. Prosecutions are up to the people who have the flipping "evidence"!!!

They push for and press all these investigations and then try to push for and press prosecutions for INNOCENT PEOPLE out of nothing. Harassing people, wasting time and money, hurting real people.

They're rotten bastard clowns. I would spit on Denis Naughten if he were here, because of him real criminals are getting away with real crimes.

    Agreed. Completely.

So what do we do about it? Our lifestyle is under threat by people who want to force their morality on us. Didn't some escort in ireland go public a while back in defense of legalized prostitution? Whatever happened to that?

Every punter and escort on here should give monthly, whatever they can afford, to promote the idea of legalized prostitution in Ireland. The escorts themselves and the punters need to go public. Speak to journalists. Get our message out. If prostitution is such multi-million euro business in Ireland then surely some of those euros should go towards defending our way of life.

    Escorts:

How about donating €5 from what every punter gives you for session. Pay it directly to PayPal or Irish bank account?

    Punters:

Every time you punt you independently pay €5 to this fund as well.

    Patricia:

You donate €5 every time an escort places an ad or re-advertises.

This would work on the honor system and the funds would be controlled by an organization who's goal is to lobby for legalization of prostitution. This funds could go to pay their salaries, pay for ads on tele and print.

We need to get the message out there that escorts in this country are not trafficked or pimped. That to date no cases of trafficking have been proven. That we are against trafficking where it does exist. That we believe in out and out legalization of prostitution for the safety of escorts, the safety of punters, and the control of STIs. (maybe instituting something akin to the Adult Industry Medical Health Care Foundation, which helped set up a voluntary standard for STI testing for pornographic actors?)

My point is we can no longer sit back and do nothing. We have to organize and fund a defense.

Not many of those around. Sites like this has gotten girls off the streets.

A Garda report in 2007 found that case of trafficking and pimping were few and far between and most prostitutes working in Ireland felt safe and did the work voluntary....

...that report got about 1 day's worth of media coverage.

I would totally support ideas like this. The core problem is there is nobody fighting the escorts corner that you could support. If I fight it, people just criticise me, saying well of course I would say that as I have a commercial interest etc. Escorts don't want to talk to journalists etc because of their privacy. We are a lot of people who agree about a lot of things and want to do something, but we don't know where to direct our support as it seems like there is nobody in Ireland fighting for what we want.
