Default Is E-I a private club?

This is an issue which comes up frequently, especially when there is any sort of change which emphasises the difference between new or infrequent posters and older more frequent posters. Most recently it came up with the new reputation bar. This whole debate is based on people's subjective impressions. Those are important, of course, but people here seem to have very different impressions of how open E-I is. So I thought it would be good to have some numbers. Those of you who don't like numbers, stop reading now.

There are 22,917 registered members, with a total of 214,949 posts.
The top 100 posters account for 117,055 of those posts, or 54.4%.
The other 22,817 members account for the remaining 45.6%.
On average, the top posters have 1,170 posts.
The others have 4 posts, on average.

Of the posts from the top 100 posters, the authors of those posts are
    00.4% Agencies
    05.9% E-I Staff (including Patricia)
    19.2% Escorts (current or former)
26.1% Moderators (current only, including czars and such)
    48.4% Other members (mostly clients)

It would be nice to have some historical numbers, to know whether E-I is becoming more of a closed community, but unfortunately those would be very difficult to compile.

I've just given the numbers. It's up to you to interpret them. What do you think?

“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

Answer to your question is, we are open to members and non members alike and we are open all hours! Which would suggest we are not a private club.

Interesting stats - as to whether EI is a private club?

Its always the same in any club -

There are those content to be members and in this case use EI as a source to find good escorts - nothing wrong with that.

I started off like that and only recently have viewed posts and entered into the chat - I dont think EI is a closed community rather its one where each member can chose their level of participation.

You will have to revise your percentages to reflect that I am positive that on average and at a conservative estimate easily one third of member numbers or probably over half are just profiles that spammed the album section, they join all day everyday and place stuff there that you cant even see and it must be automated but when I was deleting that stuff and checking profiles on members page I found that roughly 1 out of every 3 was a spammer and that is being very conservative. You can half the current members and class the other half as one post/same day spammers that never log in again.

Although I've been using the site for a few years I only registered and starting posting a few months ago. I think I've wormed my way in with a few fairly easily

I can understand new people feel out of the loop to begin with but that's to be expected in any area of life.

I'm aware of that. As you know, I reported about a thousand of those spam profiles. When I mentioned spam profiles recently on another thread, Patricia replied that the problem was being dealt with and that such profiles were down to about 10%. That wouldn't have been enough to change the average for "others" from 4 to 5, so I didn't worry about it. Even with your 1 in 3, it only changes from 4 to 6. I haven't looked closely at spam profiles for a while, but I am certainly willing to believe that your estimate is better than hers.

Take a look at the new members page by date of joining... mostly usernames with random letters, any one with an avatar of a head shot type pic looking face on its a certainty they are a spammer... 50 a day join easy.

I know that. That's why I posted on another thread that this place is overrun with spammers. But, as Pat pointed out to me, that's not a fair way to evaluate the situation, because it takes E-I some time to remove these.

In any case, this doesn't seem very relevant to the thread. As I've stated, the numbers above do not change much if we believe you or if we believe Pat or if we just ignore the question. That's why I ignored it. Which is what I would recommend everyone else do.

you can use Statistics to prove anything 98.43% of people know that. E-I isnt a private club. Just that some people post more than others. These people arent told they cant post as much as anyone else, they choose themselves whether or not they want to.

Surely to be a private club it would have to have a membership fee. E-I is free to join
