    Default How private are PMs

OK - sticky one here, but how private are our PMs to each other. Who, if any one, are privee to the content within a so called private message. If I was to confide with Milfie or Fussy or even DeEgiit, who else can see this. Do our trusted Mods have access to this. My username and Password are registered on EI, can anyone with behind the scenes permissions access this? What exactly can I be assured to be the access level.

Believe it or not I don't think even Patricia has access to them.... directly, but maybe she could if she wanted, I wouldn't be surprised either way. The people who designed them and/or the regulations/protocols for designing forums have respect for the privacy of private messages. Some smart people somewhere realised that no good can come from having forums where people can't private message without a reasonable degree of privacy. Your passwords could also very well be your passwords for your email address.... so imagine the absolute disaster if thousands of people were setting up websites and getting the passwords + email addresses together.... if they hide the password it's only a step away from hiding the private messages. So it COULD, just a guess, be kind of like a black box that E-I gets in terms of forum software but I certainly wouldn't count on it for something really serious. But the ordinary mods definitely don't have access to your pms, no way.

There is nothing on the EI website about retention of data and PMs. Whilst EI may not have direct access to data i.e. they cannot see the messages, the question is where are they stored, for how long etc. Google, Facebook and all keep histories of emails. You are entitled to request of EI what data, including stored messages is held against your profile. The facility to do this is on the website and available for a fee of £10 I think, perhaps a Moderator could confirm...Please note you are entitled under European Law to see what emails or PMs are held....

Short answer. Nobody can read ur PMs, apart from a couple of nerds here who could potentially do so, but they really have far too much work to do to be doing that, and for what reason anyway? If u delete a pm, it's gone, gone gone, nobody can read it ever, so if u r concerned, delete ur pms. If u are molesting children via e-I, I might seek to get the nerds to read ur pms. Other than that sort of thing, I'm really not interested. But if u r concerned, delete ur pms, or take ur conversations elsewhere, e.g. Email the other user u want to talk to from ur hotmail or whatever. Nite nite x

Anyone can read anyone else's pm's...... its called the forward button... instead of looking for big brother to blame maybe people should think about who do they really trust in sending them.... I mean "really" trust...
