This is what the Microsoft would tell you on topic Error code 43
    Code 43
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
    Recommended resolution

One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.

If you have already run the Troubleshooting Wizard, you might want to check the hardware documentation for more information about diagnosing the problem.
It really means that the hard drive is fucked, you can bring it to specialist to try to restore the data, there is no guarantee they will get anything out of it, it very much depends where is the fault. I wouldn't worry that much about them been able to see what is on it.
They don't have a time for that, they check few circuits and if they get it working they will just extract what they can using a software that will pull it out, and what can be saved will be saved, what not is gone.

cheers pauli although I don't no why I'm thanking you for such horrible newsDon't think I'll bring it to a specialist as I know they can be fairly expensive.Gonna try buying the same hard drive and swapping out the logic board and disk.If that doesn't work I think I'll just dump it before I

Swapping it out won't make any difference because it's the disc thats corrupt, possible caused by a faulty head but just putting the disc into a new drive ain't going to miraculously repair it.

For the love of god just try it when you're running an operating system on another drive and see if it works.

If it was going to work doing that then it should have worked when I had it hooked up to my laptop as an external.Windows was already running on the laptops hard drive and this was being used as a second hard drive but the laptop was unable to detect it.This is basically the same thing as what your suggesting.
