    Default RTE World Cup Panel

    From Irish Times.com

Argentinean World Cup winner Ossie Ardiles is one of three new faces on the RTÉ Sport team for their coverage of the 2010 showpiece in South Africa. Republic of Ireland defender Kevin Kilbane and one-time German international Dietmar Hamann are the other two debutants.

There’s a welcome return to Montrose for Liam Brady for the first time since he stepped down from his role as Giovanni Trapattoni’s assistant coach, while Richie Sadlier and Denis Irwin will also be offering their two cents in the studio.

Of course, the usual suspects of John Giles, Eamonn Dunphy, Graeme Souness and Ronnie Whelan will be on hand to help the new faces settle in before inexplicably turning on them and branding their opinion “waffle”.

As ever, Bill O’Herlihy will be the chair at the top table, with Darragh Maloney, Peter Collins and Con Murphy there as back-up.

The away team will be lead by Jimmy McGee and George Hamilton, who have Ray Houghton, Gabriel Egan, Trevor Steven, Stephen Alkin, Damian Richardson, Adrian Eames and Matt Holland in support.

In total, the station will broadcast, dissect, critique and eventually rubbish 56 of the 64 games from South Africa, while there will be highlights of the other eight.

Of course, the Après Match team is also back onside.
    The Truth is out there.

Sounds good to me- a couple of proven players and the usual fun and games.
Though we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; one equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

What's the story with that arse-hole Souness, he was a hachet man as a player and destroyed every team he managed except for Rangers who bought titles in a shit league. Rather listen to Pat Dolan and that's saying something.

The fuck!! Souness was a great player. Did you ever see him pay?? and Pat Dolan is a complete knobhead.....still defends Benitez to lthe last.

It's a good panel....as usual I'll watch the analysis on RTE and the commentating on BBC or ITV as RTE have the worst commentators ever to grace television.

He was also part of the great Liverpool team of the 70s and 80s. Liverpool could do with a "hatchet man" like him these days.
He was also on Sky Sports panel for the Champions League so it seems other channels feel he has something to offer.

I know a guy who met George Hamilton several times in the course of his job and the most polite comment he made was that Hamilton was a dickhead and a prick.

Let's just hope Giles gives us a break sometimes from explaining what happens psychologically when a team goes up or goes down a goal..... he just goes on and on and on and on and on... we get it Mr. Giles.

And Dunphy stops going on about "passion", and "flashy players" being no good... but he's not as bad as Giles.

I would rather watch giles and dunphy go on and on over those suckups over at the bbc or sky.
I have lived a life of regrets.

Why don't you act normal like this all the time??
