In fairness lads he died for his beliefs and killed himself for those beliefs and not others, you have to admire the bravery and conviction to do that, don't paint him with the same brush as those that use his memory to further their own agenda, he was a brave man and that cannot be taken away from him.

As a fellow " Artist " I think his work was shite , worse than that it stank --- and that is a blanket statement.

Think what u want of him but u only have to look back at his election to see how much support he had. Also on his funeral, the size of the turnout was larger that George Bests, "Ulsters favourite son!"
people may not agree with what bobby sands did or stood for but over the ages people across the world have had to carry out unpopular acts for the better good of their people. For instance the bombing of Berlin or Hiroshima. These are 2 extreme cases but just examples of what was acceptable in difficult times.

bobby was an irish soldier....a proud irish republican...who wouldent accept being a second class in his own land...or the partition of his country...and as an irish republican soldier...wouldent accept...being treated as an ..non political prisoner....his funeral was the biggest ever held in the 6 counties....truly an inspiration to any young irish men and woman......everyone republican or otherwise has his/her part to play......bobby sands mp

Every catholic in the North is / was an extremist wanker and likewise on the other side of the coin, every Protestant was / is an extremist wanker too. If Sands was a useless fecker than every other person who died or stood up for their beliefs is a useless fecker.

I will tell you one thing though. Anyone who supports our current goverment are useless feckers. Those who voted No to Lisbon and then changed their minds are useless feckers and more importantly, our Pubic service ,alot who can barely justfy their earnings, and who will not share the pain of the harder working private sector ,are useless feckers.

    Sincerely,
    Westside.

Your ignorance astonishes me! We in the North were treated as second class citizens. We couldn't even vote. The police who were meant to keep us safe, terrorised and murdered our people. The south got their "Freedom" and abandoned us. What you think of the IRA, Bobby Sands and whoever else you might think of as "extremist", these are the people who protected us and are a major part in how far we've come today. Granted they did things they shouldn't of, and are not needed today as then, but I for one am greatful for what they did for the Irish people of the north.

LOL the only other alternative back then was war with England and who do you think would win it? Us? We actually voted and changed our consitution for the Good Friday Agreement. Nobody abandoned anyone. It was a case of our hands being tied and remember we had the Irish Civil war and the economic and political clean up after it to keep us going.

    Westside.
