    Default Greek protests

It's good to see that someone somewhere has the balls to say "fuck you" to their government & their new EU lords & masters.
I can't condone the firebombing of a bank or the awful deaths involved but just what would it take to get mass demonstrations onto our streets ???
I heard on the news last night that one of the Greek people's chants was something akin to :

"We are not Irish, we won't bail out the rich"

    Interseting, very interesting ................
Our government keeps telling us that we have a gold star from the EU for our swift & thorough actions. Maybe the EU beurocrats, who want to maintain the status quo are happy that we are toeing the line but it's interesting to hear what normal people think.

TheNads thinks that Irish people are generally compliant & spineless. I keep reading that taking to the streets & demonstrating will serve no purpose, well bollox to that.
Wouldn't it show the vested interests that we won't tolerate this again, we want heads ! Can you believe that we still have 90% of the same people heading government & banks as 2 yrs ago ?? Really !!! These people got us here & we leave them there to adjust things back to where they want it again ??
A good angry demo (without the violence) would certainly help repair the Nad's very negative view on his own people.
When I'm the Minister for Revenge Bertie's ring will be twitching !

I agree totally with u that was has gone on is scandalous, worse that 3 people have lost their lives, but this
really is a case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. What will these protests achieve? nothing
they will just make a bad situation worse,by going too far they have actually played into the hands of the
goverment as this morning the news channels are saying ordinary decent people want to distance themselves from these murders and thuggery. The problem here is what option has Greece ? none is the answer, if they
dont accept this loan and the conditions that go with it they are bankrupt, so instead of enforced cuts on wages
etc there will be no wages and the people protesting instead of getting reductions will not be paid atall.
In fairness the greek economy is a total basket case,it is almost totally dependent on tourism and i guess there
will be alot of people who were thinking of going there for a holiday will now go elswhere on the off chance of being caught up in all of this . There is a terrible culture of lies and deciet in greece with the goverment leading
the way by cooking the books and not being up front about deficets etc ,it now seems that they lied and
didnt meet the criteria to join the Euro and are now reaping the rewards of this. Also apparently the black economy is huge there and tax avoidance a real massive problem
    Blatant promotion should be outlawed

Yes I heard on the radio they are bringing in receipts and trying to get people to pay tax. There is uproar over this now as people used to overcharge everyone. I also heard they get a 14 month salary with the extra 2 months been paid as bonuses for Easter and Crimbo as well as a few weeks off in the summer

when ppl protest over something so profound to them ,there is usually a violent element which results in injuries and / or death. Having said all that the Greeks problem is their own ,just as ours is ours. why the hell should we give them any money when we havnt even got it for our own?

    first point
the Irish people caused the property crisis by their greed they elected fianna fail they fueled the property bubble. The vast majority of the Irish people where involved the Bubble including the working class
i.e. plasters sparkies labouries making fortunes
No-one was forced to take a loan. thats why there has been no major riots
because the people caused the problem and they know it.

    Second point
Greece Probelms are caused by socailism and now Greek communists subverises and attempted to seize power in order to turn the greek people into slaves which is what communism is, slavery.
Greek would have better off under the junta which may now be required again in order to crush the trade unions

    Third point
If there is a further deteriation here, The communists i.e. WP SP SF would attempt to seize power and enslave us. However don't be alarmed as We speak Garda special branch and miliarty intelligence have black-listed them and are ready to move if required

    Bring it on commies
    better dead than red
che guevera is dead get over it

    Ces't tre drole, ces't tre drole! )))

In your first point, you have outlined the truth-people refer to this as 'the good times'.
it was all an unnessesary property bubble which we would have been better off without!

I couldn't agree more with this topic.

The only time you will ever get the people in power to be someway fair and reasonable is 1) If they are physically afraid or 2) If they are fiscally afraid.

Considering they all pay each other from taxpayer's money in a nice little circle, it's only to a very small degree that 2) applies.

Once I saw on a youtube mobile-phone video a man being brutally assaulted by a policeman and there was a young shit in the background triumphantly saying something like: "Let everyone see that that is what happens when you attack an Irish garda"..... I don't know what the situation was exactly and why he was attacking him..... but to me there seems something extremely wrong when a young-fella is saying something like that about a policeman assaulting someone with a baton.... how could you be so naive and such a fool as to be so submissive to authority and people in power after everything they do? I wouldn't mind him saying "he got what was coming to him" or something... but to be acting like it was some sort of warning to others, like how dare they stand up to the gardai ever and if they do they'd get flattened.... something very wrong there.
