It was a bit silly, and it'll probably give ya a laugh, but here goes:


I was actually asking her about Japanese Anime! I was pretty into it in my late teens & early 20's, and still have some good mates that are still pretty into it. I was asking her if she was into it at all, as it's meant to be huge over in Japan (some series actually have weekly primetime TV slots, same as any weekly TV series would have here so I'm told), and what series were popular at the moment. I also mentioned some of the well known series from a few years ago that I'd watched when I was younger, and it was this that prompted her rather rude response.

I certainly didn't want to offend her, and maybe I was asking her about something she found to be cliche and stupid, but I've met so few people who are actually from Japan in my lifetime, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to ask her about it. And what else could I possibly chat with her about? If I hadn't attempted to engage her in conversation about something, we would've been there in complete silence, and I find that really uncomfortable! I think it's basic courtesy and even an expected part of the service for at least a tidbit of light chit chat, especially after my wallet was 280 Euro lighter after an otherwise below average punt!

I'm the same, I really do prefer a bit of conversation when I visit a lady. It's not even so much that I 'expect it' as part of the service (although I suppose some might say that it should be expected), it's just nice to get to know the person a little bit before things start, or after they end. If I just wanted the old 'WHAM, BAM, Thank you Ma'am' thing, I'd just go over to Amsterdam more often to get a quick and completely impersonal ride, and nothing else. I've even visited a few girls there regularly, and even most of them are more than willing to have a bit of friendly chat with ya!
