Maybe for a lot of people it still is.

Yeah, but at least with this site there is always somewhere someone can go and get themselves informed.
Oh and in case anyone took me seriously, I have no knowledge of prostitution websites being targeted in this clampdown and I doubt very much that it would even be technically feasible without some serious law breaking on the part of ISPs. There was a hidden wink in my post in case anyone missed it

And as for the guards? Hehehe.... I had the dubious honour of doing some work with their "technical forensic team" on a few occasions. Crikey, it would make you weep to see what those clowns are up to. The guy who heads it up actually thinks that the stuff you see on CSI Miami and 24 is real. I remember him giving me a photo of a guy taken from a shop's CCTV camera. It was incredibly blurry and unrecognisable but bless him he thought I could just do some "computer stuff" and hey presto, your man's face would appear.

A number of years back, probably 10/12 years ago, myself and an ex-colleague of mine went to the police with an offer of help. At the time we both would have been intimately acquainted with Ireland's net infrastructure (this was pre broadband days so it was all pretty neat and tidy). Anyhoo we offered to build some tooling for them which basically at that time would have set of a fire alarm if anyone in Ireland so much as sniffed at child pornography. It was like trying to explain the second law of thermodynamics to a chimpanzee. Not even a flicker of understanding from them.

This is why the world sickens my happiness! Not just for the cunts than rule it but that we put up with it and accept it. Apathy is what's killing us. This shit wouldn't fly in France. There would be all kinds of riots; but not here, we just like to sit in our house and quietly complain.

    Viva la Revolución!!

    Generation meh is dead.
    Long live generation pfffft.

In internet lore, this commoditisation of the internet is known as Eternal September. It was well documented back in the early 90's on Usenet as there was a noticeable drop in the quality of posting every September as each University took on a fresh batch of students and gave them their first internet account. It would increase during the year as they learned how to behave but would drop like clockwork next September.
At some point, the internet became locked in an Eternal September..

There is no way in hell this would ever happen - the Irish economy relies heavily on the presence of internet giants like Google, Microsoft, Ebay, Paypal, Linkedin etc. any attempt at restricting internet freedom would not go down well with any of these companies and would put any other prospective investors right off - just look at what's going on at the moment with Google and China, Google have all but pulled out of China over the Chinese governments internet policy.

Too much money is made online and too much business is done. Besides ISP wont police it either.

It would cause too much hassle,
