Default Take care with your money and cards

From comments around the forums, I gather that there is a mounting problem with clients attempting to pass fake banknotes off onto escorts.

While I deplore that completely, it occurs to me that it is only a matter of time before somebody works out that they can play the reverse game on clients. The client pays, the escort steps out of the room, switches the notes and returns to say that the money is fake. What can you do about this?

You could pay in small value bills - an escort trying this trick is unlikely to have a huge stack of faked fives and tens. You could even pay in coins - I bet that would get an odd look! :-)

A simpler idea is just to write down the serial numbers of the notes on a small piece of paper and then to check the numbers if this ever happens to you. Then you just say "This is not the note that I gave you. let's call the police and I bet that they will come and search this apartment and find a note with this number on it."

While I am sure that none of the escorts that I have met would do such a thing, I will be taking this precaution myself.

Also, I note that a number of profiles are offering to take credit cards. There is at least one factory in China that makes card readers with an extra little surprise inside. A cellular radio with a SIM card that sends card details (with PIN if used) by SMS to carding gangs. The carding gangs pay the factory to put the radios in the readers and the factory sells them at a low price to small traders who are usually unaware of what they have just bought.

I am suspicious of any card reader - even big stores have been caught out - but I would be very suspicious of a reader used in the escort business. Worst is the fact that, if this did happen, it is very likely that the escort would be unaware of the trick.

I can't really imagine that any escort is going to try that, sharkskin. It would be much too dangerous. I know one of the escorts who was given fake bills. She knew it, but didn't say anything because she was afraid of how the guy might react.

“I wish you wouldn’t keep appearing and vanishing so suddenly; you make one quite giddy!”
“All right,” said the Cat; and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

It would be very easy to someone to give fake notes to an escort and tell her that he didn't, as simple as that. Some people like to say that escorts use tricks, but that can apply both ways.
It would be one word against another.
You contradict yourself when even though you are sure the escorts you have visited wouldn't do it you right down the serial numbers of the notes. If you don't trust escorts, why should they trust you?
Of course everybody (not only punters) needs to be careful with their credit card details. But using your credit card when purchasing on the internet can be a risk as well. But it is always your choice do it or not.

I sometimes pay the escort in Monopoly money and never have a problem. It's when I bring along my penny jar that the trouble starts. It can take the girl two or three hours to count it.

I don't think this is very likely. Notes vary a lot in terms of condition, age, markings etc and in a lot of cases it would probably be blindingly obvious that the notes had been swapped. As well as that I don't think many escorts would use a scam where they have to openly challenge a client. Also, I think a lot of clients only tend to bring the money that they need when visiting an escort and in this case what good would it do an escort to claim that the money is fake? If she tells the client to go out and bring her back some "real" money then he's probably not going to come back. If an escort did want to rip someone off there are safer and less problematic ways of doing so.

You are just as likely to get a fake note over the counter at your local shop. Where do you think the escorts are going to get a supply of forged notes?
