Yeah but in our country I think they do it a little differently, there are no gypsy women waving lanterns and incense over it and reading cards for the results.

If I wanted to be tested, I would look online for tests that can be done where you send off samples.

You hit the nail on the head with this comment, something has dramatically changed and is time sensitive, I'm not worried at all as I have no symptoms knor am I worried about HIV as there has never been an instance where I was dangerously exposed that I know off.. but some minor STI's don't show symptoms in men so I'd hate to pass it on..

Something just came to me, are the ladies happy that a client is taking the initiative to have himself tested and seek advise here or would you be apprehensive meeting a client because he feels the need to??

PS. I always got tested, just circumstances have changed!!

If you are an adult and are sexually active, then yes you should be getting tested. Not when you feel you have a problem, but because it is the sensible thing to do. Also, if you acquire a new sexual partner, you should also ask her has she been tested. I do! I will even make an appointment and go together. But the GUM clinics here are more advanced, you get same day results and meds if needed for most tests and HIV in about 10 days.

Something else, in Holland the health clinic contacts YOU and tells you to go get certain tests when you reach a certain age. Amazing. My friends 16 yr old got a letter advising them to go get a chlamydia check up!

Granted the Irish Health system is a bit slow on some things, but I have to say the STI clinic in Limerick-Regional Hospital, is really quite good, the nurses are professional and very helpful, and I when I told them I am a sex worker-I think I shocked the poor loves- because I was quite upfront about it and direct; they gave me a few extra swabs, such as throat and anal.
