Whilst not directly impacted, I am so annoyed about this...sorry Rebecca, you are wrong...I have given EI the valid reasons for a search. You are obliged to comply with this search as per below...here is an excerpt from the advice I have given to EI...
A search warrant is needed in most circumstances except where a Garda has an arrest warrant for someone occupying the premises or if in pursuit of a suspect. If a Garda asks to enter the premises you should confirm their identity and the Garda station they are based at. Gardai will provide this information for you to check before admitting them. You should ask the nature of their visit and if they have a warrant. If you cannot speak English or read the details of the warrant you should try and explain this as best you can. If the Gardai have no warrant you are not obliged to grant them access.
Search Hotel rooms:- A Garda has a right to search an hotel room if they believe an offence has been committed or is about to be committed.
Evidence:- The Gardai have the right to take away anything they consider may be used as evidence, this includes condoms, lubricants, phones, laptops, cash etc.
Laptop / Mobile phones:- A Garda can seize anything that they consider may be used as evidence. They can request the password to computers, laptops and PIN numbers for phones or they can request that you show them information contained on any electronic equipment.
Do they not need warrant to take something from an appt? A number of guards in athlone are very suspect and crossed a line. And there is more to this that we cannot discuss here, but hopefully they will get their marching orders.

I wasn't going to announce this yet as we don't have it set up quite yet, but in the next week a new button is being added to all escort profiles "Report this escort as agency". These reports will go to us and they will never be published the way the reviews are, but we are hoping to use this intelligence to root out agencies posing as independents on E-I as we know this is a problem at the moment, but one of the biggest problems is that clients are not telling us about it, or if they are we don't have all this info in the one structured system and dedicated staff in place to react to it. I don't know about pimps paying off guards so I won't comment on that, but we've seen by studying bad clients data that many bad clients are pimps or otherwise involved in the industry, e.g. landlords, security people, so these problems seem to all go hand it hand. Anyway, just wanted to tell you that's something coming soon and something that we hope will really help tackle the problem of agencies posing as independents on E-I, provided clients are willing to help us by telling us what they know about what is going on.
