    Default Cabinet Musical Chairs.....

Is it just me or is this "cabinet reshuffle" business this is all just a big load of malarky?

I can't say I know all the details behind it so I can't be too harsh when I'm criticising it. But on the face of it, it doesn't seem to be in any way a logical thing.

I mean even a child knows that for anything serious you ever do in life, you get better as time passes don't you? You get to know the ins and outs of it. You gain experience, you get practice in it. Otherwise you don't have an absolute CLUE of anything that's going on. That's why you need experience and RELEVANT experience, similar to what your new candidate job is, for nearly all good jobs.

For example Patricia runs Escort-Ireland, she knows the business of escorting and how to do the job right. If you got to decide people's jobs, you wouldn't change Patricia's job to head pothole-filling engineer would you? Of course not!!! No offence to Patricia and I'm sure she'd make a brilliant pothole-filling engineer director, especially after a while, but it's not what she's used to and it would take a long time to get used to it.

I'm afraid though, unlike most companies who ask for experience, there's no balance sheet and bottom line for the ministers. It's not like these are simple jobs where you don't have to know anything. In fact the exact OPPOSITE is true, in that the politics and intricacies of the various jobs go on and on until the cows come home. Because for many people its their entire lives.

It's almost like back in times of monarchies when the royalty would sometimes "play shepherd" and go out and pretend they were the shepherd just for a laugh. What I'm suggesting is that the Ministers just get BORED of their jobs and like to mix it up a bit, having not the slightest clue what they're doing and not caring.

Anyone can be a minister of anything, even you or I. It's the senior civil servants who advise the minister who make all the decisions and who are the real experts - all our politician has to do is to have some statistics ready for regurgitation on Questions And Answers. Reshuffles are bullshit, probably more to do with internal party politicking.

I'd like to be Minister with a special responsibility for playing with Boobies

We STILL have an obese minister for Health??? Whay kind of signmal does that send out. And changing department names makes little difference. It actually incurs a cost of changing all the plaques, letterheads, etc... Bullsh1t
