i know a few ppl who arent around anymore and they weren't teens either. Now it was cocaine and alcohol that killed them but do ppl know what they are taking in the products from Head Shops? do they know how potent they are or the adverse effects (everything has adverse effects) of these products?

I doubt that ppl know enough about alot of these Head shop products to be able to make a half decent judgment on them. I honestly believe that most ppl (those with no pre existing liver, heart, kidney probs etc) can take most drugs and get anyway with it as long as they dont abuse drugs. what i mean by getting away with it is they dont die because of them. Granted they spend most of their lives like vegetables but thats their prerogative.

At the end of the day as was already said, people are going to get this stuff whether its legal or not. Honestly I dont know an awful lot about headshops but I dont think it should be a big deal. More people get messed up on alcohol than drugs here and thats not only legal, but socaily accepted. If they know what they put in them and there is know risk of posing then leave well enough alone

I'm no great fan of drugs but if these head shops are going to exist they should at least be regulated correctly........

They should just legalese cannabis so people dont have to smoke these weird alternatives. There are many places that have done this and society has not collapsed. I find the moronic level of debate about head shops depressing, there is no debate other than "drugs are bad and something must be done". Just the unthinking knee jerk reaction of conservative sheep.

The whole thing reminds me of a story from a book called "Kentucky Ham", was about a huge drug therapy clinic in the US in the 50's , when the inmates got tired of something on the menu like bananas thay would start a rumor that you could get high by smoking banana skins and then the authorities would take that off the menu and replace it with something else.

Anyway, It's going to take some creative thinking to actually stop these substances because as they ban one item new ones will be created. creating a cycle of risky experimentation that will eventually lead to bigger problems.

there is not one documented case of a death caused by cannabis over thousands of years of cannabis use. and very little evidence of any real harm. The authorities are only harming there own credibility by insisting that cannabis is a dangerous drug that should be illegal.

anyway, I could go on. but have little believe that the political system or people in this country could act logically on the available evidence and enact sensible change.

    regulation is needed,

Yeah, regulation is needed, they could be selling anything that might be harmful to a person's vital organs.

What is need is for the Government to go the way the state of California is going in relation to the REAL THING-Oakland California is like Amsterdem in America, even though the drug is supposely only available for medicinal use-tell that to my 51year Aunt who will put a teenager to shame when it comes to smoking that stuff.
Pretty much the whole weed smoking public in California have these cards that they get from their doctor that allows them to buy weed from select shops.

    Oh come on!!!

There's many off-licences in Dublin where every Fri/Sat kids hang around hassling Adults for booze. It happens all the time. I'm sure eventually the kids find someone to help.

What I find hilarious about the Head Shop debate or the legalising of drugs debate is that the two most dangerous drugs of all are the only legal ones. Like how many people die each year of Drink and Cigarette related illness? How many people here have Alcholics in there family? A parent, a child, an Aunt, an Uncle? Irish people have a substance abuse gene in their chemical make up. Its that simple.

Now who here has a pack of skins?

    1. Why are you posting in size "4" font? Are we to expect that from you in the future? I used size "4" or maybe it was "5" for a FAR smaller post before and was fucked out of it straightaway by a mod as being "VERY annoying".

    2. The young lads mightn't have a chance to make mistakes and learn from them. Maybe they do with alcohol, but nobody knows the irreversible harm these drugs can do. People kill themselves even after getting hooked on anti-depressants. Do you think the government's got your back? Do you really think the government is regulating it properly? They are not, they're constantly seduced by the polished-looking corrupt scientists assuring them all is okay.

    Default Well

apparently the gov have banned six of the chemicals so now its a race on the part of the companies to produce another type to overrun the gov ban and the gov will then ban and so forth.

    horay,
