Men of Harlech, stand ye steady...

Fucking cracking movie about one of the greatest defences of a position in history. Remember the scene where the Zulus are standing there getting shot to bits, and the Boer bloke tells Chard "They're counting your guns with the lives of their warriors". And Michael Caine - "at two hundred yahds - front rank, fiyah!" And that sergeant major with the mustache and the stick under his arm.

    Ah.

Years ago when I was smal I was on the soldiers side, but when I grew up and my nationalism developed I was totally on the Zulu side, Michael Caine is a legend tho "Zulus Sir, fasands of 'em..."

if you're up for the zulus why not watch zulu dawn.

and if you are too lazy to rent it why not watch the whole thing on youtube. see if you can spot the 'inglorious basterds' connection

    The Europeans
According to wiki which I trust 100% there was at least 16 Irishmen Present

The 24th Regiment of Foot is described as a Welsh regiment: in fact, although based in Brecon in south Wales, its designation was the 24th (The 2nd Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot. It did not become the South Wales Borderers until 1881. Of the soldiers present, 49 were English, 32 Welsh, 16 Irish and 22 others of indeterminate nationality****
