Is sex overrated in this regard, as a means of keeping a relationship or marraige alive? I think its very overrated in this regard. I think that there is too many other things that come into it besides sex.

    long live the chinese,

For some couples a healthy sex life makes the marriage even stronger.
For other couples sex is not a big deal either way, they are happy with each others company.
The problem is when one partner's sex drive is lower than the other's. Usually it is the male that has the higher sex drive and the lack of activity can cause frictions that polarise other minor issues in the home that would, otherwise, pass unnoticed.

i have never heard a guy saying if a woman is single then no sex but if have heard women saying if a man is single no sex but the thing is the sex bit is only a small part of a relationship to a woman yet some women have no probs placing the sex at a far higher level in a marraige when it comes to guys.

    Interesting,

The Chinese girl didn't realise that alot of single men go and see escorts as do married men

Clearly sex isn't important to men to glueing a relationship as they have sex with escorts who are complete strangers to them.
