Question When the Gardai come a knockin

Does anyone know or does anyone have experience of what rights us punters have if caught in the act or even before or after the act by the Gardai. Do we have to be seen to hand over money for it to be a crime. What circumstatces are cosher and which are dodgy.

As far as I can see paying for sex in the privacy of a bed room is not illegal

You are paying for her company. If she finds you irresistible and wants to have sex with you, then you cannot possibly be guilty of anything.

They may try and make you give a statement and tell you not to worry it's only so they can prosecute the lady and that only happens if they discover she is not working alone in which case it's a brothel in Irish law.
The problem with giving a statement is you could down the road receive a summons to go to court as a witness for the prosecution, failure to appear in court is a prosecutable offence.

What they don't tell you is it is only a summons to appear in the court house, they cannot force you to give a statement or to go into the witness box, once you attend the court house you approach the prosecution; tell them you do not want to be a witness, they will of course try to persuade you to change your mind but at the end of the day they cannot force you but you must actually go to the court house on the date of the summons and speak with them at that stage..

Inform the civil servant (garda) that you will be more than happy to conduct a conversation with them once you have consulted a legal representative.
