It's an evolutionary thing. Think about the sort of society in which our species evolved. It was a very harsh and unforgiving world. Imagine something like Limerick. If you're a woman and you are in trouble then your best bet is to make a fuss and hope that someone helps you, either another woman -they do that sort of thing - or a man who hopes to mate with you. If you're a man and you are in trouble then your best is to keep quiet about it. Otherwise two things will happen. Another man will see an opportunity to steal your woman (or women). And your woman (or women) will get worried about whether you can still protect her and will start shopping around for someone more reliable.

So this is why we are reluctant to go to the doctor. Some subconscious instinct is telling us that it would be safer not to admit anything is wrong.

yeah you fooking smart arse i see that now well as much as i hate going i do go you only get one shot at life so being lazy or retarded as some other guy put it could cost you your life so my advice would be go when your sick no point in having regrets when its too late so next time you are sick take old blind harrys advice and see your doctor but bring your own magazine

yes i guess i am showing my age maybe thats why i go for regular check ups you see if you only knew half the dirty things that i get up to you would be wondering to yourself how the hell is dirty harry still alive at all
