Angry Snow ruins punting. Never offer to give a mate a lift.

Well what can I say but. WELL DONE DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL. NO GRIT, WHAT A MESS.

    Let me explain (rant).
I was merrily on my way into Dublin from a job in the Tullow direction on the N81 yesterday, the roads were bad but passable.
I was aiming to arrive in Dublin for 2pm as I had a hot date with Anna for 3pm.

It was snowing lightly all the time, but when I got to the Tallaght Bypass @1.30 all hell broke loose. Total chaos, the road had turned into a sheet of ice and traffic had ground to a standstill.
Cars sliding all over the place, sideways, forwards, backwards.
Sitting in my car at 2.30 still only about 400 meters farther I came to the dreadful realisation that I hadn't a snowballs chance in hell of making it I texted Anna the bad news.
Anna was great about it ( Thanks Anna ). But boy was I pissed off.
I still had to go into Dublin anyway as I had to pick up a Mate at the train station.
Didn't make it there till 6.45

And then what a trip home

Where I live is usually an hour journey south of Dublin.

Took till feckin 10.45 to get there.

11 hours in the car !!

Next time I coming up the day before

And thanks again Anna ( going off to check weather channel )

they cant. The country literally doesnt have the money to grit the roads. Its comical that the so called Celtic tiger nation has gone like that and whats even more comical is the ppl put up with it still while the gov ministers have their roads freshly gritted each morning.Doesnt matter to them though if someone is killed heading home from work.As long as they are fine and as long as the Irish ppl lick their holes ,thats all that matters.

this country is becoming the joke of the universe,
    Westside.

PS not to worry sweetie because we have voted for Lisbon and the mosny and grit is on its way

In the gov defense it is the coldest winter in 30 or 40 years
and the longest cold snap of below freezing tempertues in living memory.
    The weather is abnormal.
The council can only stockpile x amount of salt/grit, Y amount of trucks etc.

To have the resoucres to deal adeaute with freak weather Would be a waste of money.
Better just to accept it and deal with resoucres at hand.
If colder winters become the norm then socity and gov will have to adapt better.

having the adequate resources for freak weather is one thing, not having the money to get it is another.Roads all over County Cork are left in shocking condition due to no money being available to order the grit. When will they be safe enough to use again?Only one way to find out and thats to use them.By the way Cork has escaped most of the worst of the weather. Its worse for alot of places

the place is crazy at this stage,

    Smile

Met eirenn issued a severe weather warning last night
and you decied to drive from tullow to dublin to get laid???????????

The gov and AA etc advice people not to take unnecessaey journys
    for duration of cold snap.

As good as anna appears to be I think this trip is unnecessaery.
